Organize the thousands of lego pieces scattered across your house
It might be time to finally organize the lego pieces, bricks and lego figures that keep getting stepped on around your home. Just like with any organization technique it can be an overwhelming thought to figure out how to put any type of order to the kaos. Don't worry though, there are some proven techniques that you can apply quickly and effortlessly (well maybe!). The first thing you can do is use LEGO specific software like BrickStore to organize all the pieces and catalog your entire collection. If this is maybe a bit overkill, you can go to Peeron and obtain inventory information for most of the known sets in existence - this is a way to get your sets back together and then purchase some basic plastic 4/5 gallon clear containers and organize your collection by sets. You can even visit websites such as Brickfactory or Peeron to find the instructions and set inventory list. There is even a site that will help you figure out which sets your pieces go to. You can take your unique pieces or actually any piece and look on the underside for a ref number and type it into the parts catalog at BrickLink and find out every set that had that piece included. Wow, these are some great ways and hopefully some new ideas for you to organize the Lego parts around your home. If you want to stick to the more traditional way, you can organize the pieces by color and size and have a 4/5 gallon plastic container. You can read more about lego parts and organization in the book "The unofficial Lego builders guide".
